Workshop on parchment conservation: Impact of conservation on biomolecular records will be organized on 22–24 August 2022 at the University for Continuing Education Krems.
The workshop focuses on practical aspects of the so-called biocodicology.
The core question in conservation of manuscripts and documents made of parchment is: how to best preserve them for the use and reading by scholars and at the same time not apply conservation methods and conservation material that interfere with future scientific research of documents used to support the work of historians and philologists.
Emphasis lies on practical activity: how conservation treatment used is going to affect the microbiome and limit future research.
Questions coming from the participants are warmly welcome!
